    IS OVERWHELM SENDING YOU ROUND THE TWIST? Let’s IS OVERWHELM SENDING YOU ROUND THE TWIST? Let’s cut to the chase, being self-employed is tough isn’t it? There’s so much stuff going on in your head it’s no wonder you don’t get dizzy trying to spin all the plates ✅ Wearing all the different hats as a small business owner (you’re responsible for IT, marketing, finance, Office Junior, CEO and everything in between) ✅ What about this weeks blog post, newsletter, filing? Have you got your shit together yet? ✅ Website still not updated or looks a bit shit? When are you going to get round to actually doing it? ✅ Jealous of people who have all day to work on their business while you have to make do with whatever pockets of time you can grab? ✅ Feel like the proverbial headless chicken, forever running around trying to be all things to all people and you end up not spending time on you ✅ Don’t know where to focus as you’ve got too much stuff going on ✅ Got so many plates spinning you’re scared to death precious plates will be the ones that fall These are my top tips that anyone can implement to help you kick overwhelm to the curb … Do a Brain Dump ✅ Just think of it like a download. Every single task, every idea you have, write it down. Think about projects you want to do, what are the tasks involved Prioritise Work ✅ You then need to go through everything and prioritise the tasks that you need to be doing first. The key here is to ask yourself 2 questions: ✴ Will this bring money into the business? ✴ Will this move me closer to achieving my goal? Congratulations, you’ve now created your to do list! Break Your to Do List into Chunks of Time ✅ One thing that my clients have found helped them so much is to break tasks down into small chunks that will take 5, 10 or 30 minutes to complete.     LET'S KICK START YOUR WEEK 💯 Overwhelm can ver LET'S KICK START YOUR WEEK 💯 Overwhelm can very easily creep up on us if we let it, so here's some things you can do to kick start you to a great week 🤩 1. Take some time to plan out what tasks you need to work on this week (this information can come from your prioritised Brain Dump list) ✅ 2. Break down each individual task into 5, 10 or 30 minute chunks so that it's easy to schedule the work in your diary when you have time available ✅ 3. Cut yourself some slack! Sometimes, shit just happens so don't beat yourself up if you don't finish everything.     DON'T LET OVERWHELM STOP YOU FROM GETTING THINGS D DON'T LET OVERWHELM STOP YOU FROM GETTING THINGS DONE Whether you’re just thinking about starting your own business, are part way through setting everything up or already up and running, there will come a time (lots of times to be honest) when you will feel complete overwhelm with everything that you’ve got to do. So what can you do if you’re in the overwhelm pit of doom and can’t see a way out? It’s not as difficult as you may think. 1️⃣ Set Big Goals Some people struggle with setting goals but it doesn’t have to be hard. But goals are so important as it gives you the motivation you need when you’re having a bad day as well as being your guide to achieving what you want. The best way to look at goals is to get clear on what your perfect business would be (this is your long term goal). What would it look like, how would you be working? You then break that goal down to show what you need to do to achieve that long term goal – think about 12 – 18 month time. 2️⃣ Brain Dump The next thing you need to do is to get everything out of your head and on to paper. What I mean is taking every idea, reminder, task etc and putting it on to paper. This is normally a liberating exercise as you are freeing up room in your brain for other ideas whilst working through the stuff you need to get done 3️⃣ Prioritise Work Once you’ve done your brain dump, you need to go through everything and prioritise the tasks that you need to be doing first. The key here is to ask yourself 2 questions: ✴ Will this bring money into the business? ✴ Will this move me closer to achieving my goal? 4️⃣ 90 Day Action Planning Now that you have your goals set and work priorities, you need to create an action plan so that you actually implement the work – this is where a lot of people come unstuck!
